Course Information
Description An overview of causes and consequences of addiction, the major drug classifications, and the counselor's code of ethics
Prerequisites None
Learning Outcomes
1. Describe modern approaches to substance abuse counseling and conceptualizations.
2. Explain a social justice view of substance abuse counseling.
3. Characterize evidence-based practices.
4. Articulate best approaches to conceptualizing substance abuse counseling approaches.
5 Outline multicultural approaches to treating substance use disorders.

Instructor Policies I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you want to discuss your grades, you must come to my office, in person.
Attendance Policy Research has shown a cause and effect relationship between attendance and college success. Students with more than three absences from the course will receive an academic penalty (which is spelled out by the instructor).
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
